Alec Peters is turning the page. The 2.06m American forward, who played a key role in Olympiakos’ historic EuroLeague championship run this season, is officially leaving the Greek club to join Olimpia Milano. The two-year deal, worth around $1.7 million per year through 2028, was confirmed on June 16, 2026, though the agreement had been known since early June.
Peters leaves Olympiakos after four seasons that can only be described as remarkable. Since arriving in the summer of 2022, he collected an extraordinary trophy haul: 1 EuroLeague title, 3 Greek championship titles, 2 Greek Cups, and 4 Greek Super Cups. The EuroLeague crown is particularly significant — it was the club’s first since 2013, ending a 13-year drought.

A Standout Final Four Before Moving On
Peters saved some of his best basketball for the biggest stage. In the EuroLeague Final Four, he scored 17 points in the semifinal against Fenerbahçe, then followed up with 16 points in the final against Real Madrid, which Olympiakos won 92-85. Over the course of the 2025-2026 EuroLeague season, he averaged 6.8 points per game while shooting an efficient 41.8% from 3-points range.
Despite those contributions, Peters’ role at Olympiakos remained limited by the presence of Sasha Vezenkov, the league’s MVP, who occupied a similar position in the rotation. The desire for increased playing time is the primary reason behind his decision to leave. Milano offers him the prospect of a larger, more central role within a top EuroLeague program.
The departure did not go without emotion. Around 40 club ultras reportedly visited Peters at his home in an attempt to convince him to stay — a striking testament to how much the fanbase valued him. Peters acknowledged the bond in an Instagram farewell message, writing: « I will be Olympiacos for life. »
Peters, who previously played for CSKA Moscow, Anadolu Efes Istanbul, and Baskonia before landing in Piraeus, now joins another EuroLeague powerhouse. At 31, he heads to Milano with championship pedigree and a clear motivation: to prove he can be a difference-maker when given the minutes to do so.
