After two successful years with Paris Basketball, crowned with a French championship title and a historic EuroLeague participation, Mikael Jantunen (2.04m, 25 years old) joins the continent’s elite. The Finnish power forward has signed a two-year deal with Fenerbahçe Istanbul, recent 2025 EuroLeague champion who eliminated Paris in the competition’s quarter-finals.

Fenerbahçe attracts key Paris Basketball player

As Paris Basketball concludes the most successful season in its history, including a Betclic ELITE title and an impressive first EuroLeague appearance, Tiago Splitter’s team loses one of its key players. Mikael Jantunen, who arrived in the capital in summer 2023, quickly found his place in the Parisian collective, delivering solid performances on both fronts.

In 2024-2025, the Finn played all 38 EuroLeague games with solid stats: 7.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1 assist per game, with very efficient percentages (63.2% on 2-pointers, 38.8% on 3-pointers, 82.4% on free throws). In the domestic league, he also contributed to the national title conquest, with 7.5 points and 4.2 rebounds in 33 games.

A solid European progression

After stints with HBA-Marsky Helsinki and NCAA (Utah), Jantunen gradually climbed the European ranks. Belgian champion with Ostend, then key player at Treviso in Italy, he reached new heights in Paris, where he also won the EuroCup and Leaders Cup in 2024.

« Thanks to his energy, mobility and offensive versatility, Mikael Jantunen brought real value to Paris Basketball, » stated Fenerbahçe’s press release, hoping the player will contribute to the Istanbul club’s future ambitions. The team recently lost guard Marko Guduric (who left for Milan) and strengthens its frontcourt with a complementary and experienced profile despite his young age.

A new high-level challenge

With this signing, Mikael Jantunen joins a club that aims for EuroLeague’s highest ranks every year. He will return to the European stage with an enhanced status and the ambition to continue his progression in the yellow and blue colors.
