2025 3×3 European Basketball Cup: French women bounce back against Ukraine

After a difficult start to the competition, the French women’s 3×3 basketball team managed to respond during the first day of the 2025 European Cup. Despite less than an hour of recovery time between their opening loss to Azerbaijan and their second match, France dominated Ukraine with a score of 20-16.
A disrupted schedule complicating the task for the French
The disruption of the first day’s program due to rain didn’t help the French team’s situation. Forced to play their first match at 5:15 PM followed by a second at 6:15 PM, the Group B French team had to manage with very limited recovery time between the two games.
This unusual situation could have destabilized the French players, whose confidence was already shaken after their loss to Azerbaijan. But paradoxically, it was with wounded pride that they approached this second confrontation, facing Ukrainian players who were playing their first match of the competition.
A prideful response puts France in good position
The French team’s mental strength ultimately overcame physical fatigue. From the start of the game, intensity was present on both sides of the court, but the French quickly gained the upper hand over their opponents.
Facing a Ukrainian playing style very different from Azerbaijan’s, the French players managed to adapt and impose their rhythm. This victory, more in line with their standards against a team considered weaker, now puts them in a good position to secure their qualification for the quarter-finals of this 3×3 European Cup.

This prideful response after the initial setback demonstrates the character of this French team, who will need to confirm this upward trend in upcoming matches to secure their passage to the next round.
