Yvan Ouedraogo revived his career by saving Evreux: « Everything clicked »

A former player at the French National Training Center and French youth national teams – finalist at the 2019 U19 World Cup – Yvan Ouedraogo (6’9″, 23) got his career back on track at Evreux, helping the club maintain its Pro B status. After spending years in NCAA, the strong and athletic center is looking for redemption after several unsuccessful experiences in Europe.
While considering his future, Yvan Ouedraogo reflects on his short but intense season and discusses the exodus of young French talents to the United States.
Last month was crucial for you, it almost determined your 2025-2026 season…
Absolutely! If I have to remember one thing from this season, it’s that very intense month and a half at Evreux. I joined a club that was last in the league and on a ten-game losing streak. I came with the goal of helping them stay up, and we managed to do it, even finishing one spot above the relegation zone! Everything clicked: I was well received from the start, immediately put in the starting lineup, and well integrated despite the team’s poor momentum. Having lived in the United States for a long time, I think I brought balance and helped bridge the gap between the American players and the rest of the team.
I feel mentally tired because coming back wasn’t easy. Between the failed transfer to Turkey due to malaria, my shoulder injury, and the rough period in Germany – I’m mentally drained but ultimately happy!
« What attracted me was my trust in Marc. The coach took a real gamble when recruiting me. »
