As the NBA 2025 Draft approaches, the Washington Wizards are among the most active teams in the trade market. According to league sources, the capital franchise has made several offers to Top 5 teams hoping to select one of the best available prospects at point guard and shooting guard positions.

The Wizards, who currently hold the 6th and 18th picks, are looking to put together an attractive package to move up in the rankings and secure either Dylan Harper or Jeremiah Fears. These two prospects represent the future that Washington wants to build to support Jordan Poole in the backcourt.

Spurs resist trade attempts

Despite their efforts, all of the Wizards’ attempts have so far been rejected. The San Antonio Spurs, who hold the 2nd overall pick, have notably declined offers from both Washington and Philadelphia. The Texas franchise seems determined to keep this selection to draft Dylan Harper, who is considered a future All-Star combining the qualities of James Harden and Cade Cunningham.

The situation is also complicated for Jeremiah Fears, who is drawing increasing interest from several franchises set to select in the Top 5. This popularity casts doubt on his availability when the Wizards make their pick at 6th.

Washington is clearly seeking young talent to restructure their backcourt. This strategy is part of a broader roster overhaul, with Marcus Smart expected to return to a sixth man role where his versatility will be valuable. However, Malcolm Brogdon will not be extended, as management is not planning to offer him a new contract.

The coming days will be decisive for the Wizards, who may have to settle for making their selection at 6th if no trade materializes before the Draft.
