Promoted to Elite 2, the Béliers de Kemper are making great strides in building their team for the 2025-2026 season. After confirming the extension of Jamar Abrams, the Finistère club has announced the signing of center Will Butler, the return of Joel Awich, and the promotion of young Yohan Renou to the professional squad. Three additions with three distinct profiles.

Will Butler, an established center

After a successful season in Nationale 1 with Stade Toulousain, Will Butler (2.02m, 28) will discover Pro B with Quimper. The American-Jamaican center, considered a Cotonou player, comes off a convincing campaign: 14.5 points and 8 rebounds for a 17.4 average evaluation. Third best evaluation in NM1, he arrives in Finistère with a solid resume.

Having played at Pensacola State (JUCO), UAB (NCAA), then Huesca in Spain and Umea in Sweden – where he averaged up to 15.1 points and 19.3 evaluation – the Saint Catherine, Jamaica native will strengthen a frontcourt where his physical impact should be valuable.

Joel Awich’s return

Previously with Quimper in 2023-2024, Joel Awich (2.01m, 32) returns to the Béliers after a solid season with Le Havre (15.2 evaluation) where he narrowly missed promotion to ELITE 2. The Kenyan international had been playing in Nationale 1 for several seasons, with notable stints at Dax-Gamarde and Caen.

Already under Thibault Wolicki’s guidance during his previous stint, the power forward will finally experience Pro B, a level he had never reached before.

Yohan Renou, a pure product of the youth academy

Showing steady progress since arriving at Quimper in 2022, Yohan Renou (1.85m, 18) is promoted to the professional squad. The Bayonne-born point guard, who came through Adour Dax Basket, shined with the U18s then with the Espoirs and NM3 teams.

During the 2024-2025 season, he averaged 10.8 points, 3 assists, and 2.6 steals for a 13.7 evaluation in NM3. A promising profile that the Béliers want to continue developing, in a dual project with the ELITE 2 Espoirs team.

Recruitment now almost complete

With Jamar Abrams, Antoine Dudit, Noah Burrell, Lucas Thevenard, Antoine Wallez extending their contracts and likely Hugo Dumortier too, plus the arrivals of Terrell Gomez and Christopher Dauby, Quimper now has an almost finalized roster. It remains to be seen if a final adjustment will be made on the wing before the season starts, but the core of the project is well in place.
