For the second time in just over a year, Mike James (1.85m, 35 years old) has reached an agreement with AS Monaco to extend until June 30, 2027. Indeed, after his EuroLeague MVP season in 2023-2024, the American point guard had already extended for three seasons, until 2027. However, the contract had multiple irregularities, including being presented without an FFBB licensed agent to the National Basketball League (LNB), resulting in a €100,000 fine for the principality club.

A new contract to replace the old one

Finally, after a series of conflicts with AS Monaco, particularly related to his suspension at the end of the 2024-2025 season for non-sporting reasons, both parties returned to the table to find solutions to their problems. This led to the signing of a new contract, this time complying with LNB legislation, until 2027. In fact, Mike James was no longer under contract, which explains why we’re talking about an extension now. This extension should be officially announced in the coming hours, though the club won’t communicate about it.
