Wembanyama and the Spurs dominate a weakened Thunder 116-106

The San Antonio Spurs delivered a remarkable collective performance to defeat theOklahoma City Thunder 116-106, in a game where they were never trailing. Victor Wembanyama once again shined with 22 points and 14 rebounds, supported by an excellent Keldon Johnson who scored 25 points.
This victory allows the Spurs (34-16) to close within just five wins of the Western Conference leader, Oklahoma City (40-12). This marks San Antonio’s fourth win against the Thunder this season, confirming their excellent momentum against the reigning NBA champions.
A Thunder decimated by injuries
Oklahoma City was playing under particularly difficult conditions, with only eight active players on the roster. Reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was absent due to an abdominal injury, and the team was missing its entire usual starting five for this second consecutive night.
The situation was so critical that at the end of the third quarter, only staff members were present on the bench when coach Mark Daigneault was preparing his three substitutes to enter the game, with San Antonio leading 90-80.
Thunder injury report for tonight’s game against the Spurs:
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (abdominal strain) is out
Chet Holmgren (back spasms) is out
Isaiah Hartenstein (eye corneal abrasion) is out
Lu Dort (patellofemoral joint inflammation) is out

Despite these difficult circumstances, the Thunder showed character thanks to its rotation players. Kenrich Williams scored 25 points, while Jaylin Williams recorded a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Aaron Wiggins also contributed with 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting. The Williams-Williams-Wiggins trio combined for 69 points, including 36 in the first half alone.
The Spurs take advantage of the opportunity
San Antonio perfectly exploited this opportunity, with De’Aaron Fox distributing 10 assists to go with 15 points. Rookie Carter Bryant matched his personal best with 11 points, confirming the Spurs’ depth.
Jordan McLaughlin, who had played only three minutes in the previous three games, made the most of his playing time by hitting a crucial 3-pointer during a 12-2 run spanning the first and second quarters, pushing the score to 42-26.
This performance is part of a mixed stretch for Oklahoma City, which has only three wins in its last seven games. The two teams will meet again soon: the Thunder will host Houston on Saturday, while the Spurs will travel to Dallas on Thursday.
