Walker Kessler remains in Jazz plans for next season

The Utah Jazz has made retaining Walker Kessler an absolute priority for the upcoming offseason. According to information reported by Jake Fischer, the organization is « determined to retain Walker Kessler, » who will become a restricted free agent this summer.
A clear strategy despite competition
This determination by the Jazz comes in a particular context, especially after the trade that sent Ivica Zubac to the Indiana Pacers. Fischer explains that « numerous contacts with rival teams suggested to me that the Pacers had traded too much for Zubac and could have waited until summer to see what other options would have presented themselves. » However, the Pacers apparently acted knowing that « Utah is determined to retain restricted free agent Walker Kessler. »
This information is corroborated by Tony Jones, who recently stated on the radio that the Jazz would be ready to match any offer that might come for the young center. The Salt Lake City franchise indeed holds restricted free agent rights on Kessler, which gives them a considerable advantage in negotiations.
