Team France begins its campaign this Thursday, August 28 against Belgium in Katowice (Poland). For the occasion, the French Basketball Federation has released a new episode of its web series « All-Access » (17 minutes), following the behind-the-scenes of the French team’s journey and their final preparation match against Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Greece at the OAKA Arena in Athens.

Strazel, a setback before EuroBasket

A notable moment in this episode: the announcement of Matthew Strazel‘s withdrawal. Visibly affected, the Monaco point guard shares his disappointment on camera but also his determination to stay present alongside his teammates.

The Bourg-la-Reine native, who was expected to be one of the team’s playmakers, leaves a gap for the French staff to fill, who are already facing tough choices in forming the squad.

Yabusele, captain of Les Bleus

The documentary also covers the rise of the new captain, Guerschon Yabusele, two-time Olympic medalist. Under the leadership of the Real Madrid forward, Les Bleus have completed their preparation and are now focusing on the major Polish event.

France will start its EuroBasket campaign against Belgium, who are weakened by the absence of several key players but remain competitive. A crucial match to start the competition well.
