Victor Wembanyama signs a long-term deal with Nike and will get his own signature shoe

Victor Wembanyama extends his partnership with Nike for the long term. Following his mega-contract with the Spurs, the 22-year-old French big man has committed to a lasting deal with the American sportswear giant, which will release his first signature shoe, the Wemby 1, under a visual identity inspired by outer space.
The 2026 offseason will be one to remember for Victor Wembanyama. Just days after signing a new five-year, $252 million contract extension with the San Antonio Spurs, the French prodigy has finalized another major deal: a long-term extension with Nike, whose original contract was set to expire this coming October.
The news was broken by ESPN reporter Shams Charania, who noted that both parties have committed « for the long term ». Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed, but the headline is elsewhere: as part of this agreement, Nike has committed to launching the first signature shoe for the Spurs star.
The Wemby 1, a signature shoe in the image of the Alien
To accompany the launch, the Swoosh brand unveiled a new visual identity directly inspired by Wembanyama‘s nickname: the Alien. A space-themed universe, befitting the player himself, whose otherworldly style of play continues to captivate the basketball world. Nike also shared the message: « The game looks different from here. »
The sportswear giant did not miss the opportunity to underscore the importance of this partnership in an official statement: « We are proud to continue supporting Victor Wembanyama’s journey with Nike. As one of the most unique and influential athletes in the world, Victor is a generational talent who continues to inspire the next generation. We are excited about everything we have built together and look forward to many more wins to come. »

A meteoric rise in just three NBA seasons
At just 22 years old, Wembanyama has been racking up accolades at a breathtaking pace. In only three seasons, the Le Chesnay native has already reached the NBA Finals, finished as a runner-up for the MVP award, claimed the Defensive Player of the Year trophy, and signed a max contract. A trajectory that fully justifies Nike’s interest in making him one of the central faces of its strategy.
This signature shoe represents a powerful symbolic milestone in the French center’s career. It confirms his status as a global phenomenon, both on and off the court, and places Wembanyama in the very exclusive circle of players capable of carrying their own product line from the very start of their career.
