Unclear situation around Jacob Grandison: Boulazac forward still absent

Jacob Grandison (1.98m, 27 years old) didn’t step on the court with Boulazac last Friday in Cholet. The forward had warmed up with the rest of the team before being declared unavailable, officially due to illness. However, according to Sud Ouest, the former Duke player isn’t actually sick: an administrative issue, possibly related to his recent participation in EuroBasket with Finland, is preventing his qualification.
A confusing situation and a silent club
When asked after his team’s loss in Cholet, coach Alexandre Ménard didn’t want to elaborate on the subject: « Pfft, I don’t know, it’s not my job, » he simply stated, without saying more.
The coach will again have to make do without his forward this Tuesday in Orthez, where BBD travels to face Élan Béarnais in the French Cup Round of 32. Since his arrival, the Finnish international had impressed at the LNB SuperCup (25 points in the third-place game against Paris) and in the season opener win against Saint-Quentin (11 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists).
An administrative case in the process of being resolved
According to information from Sud Ouest, the issue is indeed administrative. It could be related to his license validation following his participation in EuroBasket 2025 with the Finnish national team. The Périgord club is expected to communicate soon to clarify the situation.
Meanwhile, Boulazac finds itself without an important player, who arrived mid-September to bring his experience at the small forward position. If the case doesn’t progress quickly, BBD might have to do without him again on Saturday against Nancy, or even longer.
