Tyler Herro described as overrated

Tyler Herro‘s future with the Miami Heat is becoming an increasingly delicate situation to assess as the All-Star guard finishes the 2026 NBA season. At 26, Herro has played only 11 games this season for the Heat, with a concerning record of 4 wins and 7 losses, including defeats in six of his last seven outings.

An All-Star player but constantly in trade rumors

These recent struggles have fueled questions about Herro’s true value. Yet Herro has maintained an average of 20 points or more per game for five consecutive seasons, becoming the first player since Dwyane Wade to achieve this feat in a Heat uniform. Despite these impressive statistics, the guard remains constantly at the center of trade discussions, particularly during negotiations with the Milwaukee Bucks where his name was mentioned rather than Bam Adebayo’s.

Disappointing playoff performances and health issues

Swartz’s analysis reveals Herro’s limitations: « We can clearly see how the Heat values Herro, which corresponds to how the league should consider him as well; a good scorer with defensive limitations and durability issues. Herro is not a max-level player or even close to it. Miami reached the Finals in 2023 after Herro broke his hand in Game 1 of the playoffs. The team seemed much better without him, which should have been a signal. »

In last season’s first-round series against the Cleveland Cavaliers, he scored only 17.8 points per game with 41.5% shooting. « In last year’s playoffs, Herro was the defensive target of the Cleveland Cavaliers, who ended up sweeping the Heat dominantly.
