Aaron Broussard continues his journey with Benfica Lisbon. The 35-year-old American guard has officially extended his contract for two additional seasons, confirming his loyalty to the Portuguese club he joined in 2021.

An ambitious veteran seeking new trophies

« We still have a lot of work ahead of us, more goals to achieve, » declared the four-time Portuguese champion during an interview with Benfica TV. « I’m honored to be back and have another season. More victories, that’s the plan. Now, we need to win some of the trophies we haven’t won in the past and continue to build and achieve more success. »

After four NCAA seasons with Seattle from 2008 to 2012, his professional career took him from Iceland to the French lower divisions – at Sorgues in Nationale 1 (19.2 points per game in 2013-2014) then at Fos Provence in Pro B (from 2014 to 2017) – to Poland, Romania and Russia, before settling with the Eagles in 2021. « I love the country, and Lisbon is a very beautiful city, » Broussard confided. « It feels like home, and the people are friendly. »

With his experience of 43 BCL games, the Federal Way native will enhance his record via Group H of the regular season, facing Gran Canaria, Le Mans and Spartak Subotica. During the 2024-2025 edition, he averaged 7.3 points per game over four appearances.

Beyond Daniel Relvao and Jose Silva who also recently renewed their contracts, Jhonathan Andrade, the other former Fos player Makram Ben Romdhane, Geno Crandall, Aleksander Dziewa, Tiago Filipe, Eduardo Francisco, Diogo Gameiro, Koby McEwen, Sergio Sousa, Justice Sueing and former Antibes and Boulazac player Temidayo Yussuf were already confirmed in the 2025-2026 roster.

The team coached by Norberto Alves will open its BCL campaign by hosting Gran Canaria at Pavilhao Fidelidade on October 7th.
