Surprise quarterfinalist at EuroBasket, former Aix-Maurienne and Saint-Chamond shooter extends with his club

Duna Aszfalt-DTKH, a club located in Kecskemét, Hungary, has officially announced the extension of Ilari Seppala for next season. The Finnish guard/point guard, who arrived in fall 2024, quickly established himself as a key player in the Hungarian roster thanks to his remarkable performances on the court.
An essential offensive leader for Kecskemét
Born in 1993, Ilari Seppala played 28 games in his first season at Kecskemét, establishing himself as the team’s top scorer with an average of 17.9 points per game. The Finn also demonstrated his creativity and court vision by dishing out nearly 5 assists per game, while shooting an excellent 42% from 3-point range.
These statistics quickly won over the club’s supporters, who hoped to count on their leader for an additional season. The extension comes as Seppala is at EuroBasket with the Finnish national team. The former Aix-Maurienne (2019-2021) and Saint-Chamond (2022-2024) player has played all pool matches so far. Finland has won three of its five pool matches and has knocked down the title favorite this Saturday evening. However, Seppala is the only player in Lassi Tuovi’s roster who hasn’t played yet.
An early extension despite the Eurobasket
« In addition to his excellent performances at Kecskemét, a very good relationship has developed with Ilari, we are delighted that he is coming back to us, » said Ivkovic Stojan, the club’s sporting director. « The agreement with him had been reached earlier, but we didn’t want to disturb his peaceful preparation for the Euro and his successful participation in this competition with our announcements. »
This extension is part of Kecskemét’s sports project continuity, which focuses on stability and the experience of its star guard.
