The Golden State Warriors won an epic game against the Denver Nuggets (137-131, after overtime) at the Chase Center in San Francisco. Stephen Curry delivered a clutch performance with 42 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds, allowing the Warriors to start the 2025-2026 season with a 2-0 record.
Aaron Gordon makes history with 50 points
Aaron Gordon had the performance of his career with 50 points and incredible 3-point shooting (10/11). To find a player who scored more points in their team’s season opener, you have to go back to 1989, when Michael Jordan started his season with 54 points.
The Nuggets‘ forward was perfect in the first half with 7/7 from 3-point range, setting a new franchise record for most threes made in a half. His 25 points helped Denver lead 70-61 at halftime. Gordon continued his offensive showcase, scoring 14 points in three minutes during the second quarter to extend the Nuggets‘ lead to +14.
Nikola Jokic complemented the performance with 21 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists, achieving a triple-double despite unusual shooting accuracy.

Stephen Curry catches fire in crunch time
Quiet in the first half with only 7 points, Stephen Curry took over after the break. The 37-year-old guard scored 22 of his 42 points in the last eight minutes of regulation and overtime.
Down seven points with less than four minutes remaining, Curry saved the Warriors by scoring 15 consecutive points to force overtime. He first tied the game with a 30-foot three-pointer over Gordon, then opened overtime with another clutch three.
Jimmy Butler provided valuable support with 21 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds, especially in overtime where the Curry-Butler duo sealed the victory with a decisive 12-2 run. Al Horford, used off the bench, contributed 13 points and shot 3/4 from three-point range.
This victory confirms the Warriors‘ strong start to the season after their success against the Lakers, while the Nuggets, despite this historic performance, start with a loss. Both teams showed their potential to compete in the Western Conference this season.
