Saint-Quentin holds its breath after serious injury Friday night

Betclic ELITE - After suffering a calf injury against Bonn and leaving on crutches, Jean-Philippe Dally worried everyone at Pierre-Ratte on Friday night. The Saint-Quentin Basketball power forward will undergo an MRI on Monday, but his absence for the Betclic ELITE opener at Boulazac is already confirmed.

Friday night, as Saint-Quentin Basketball (SQBB) was struggling against Bonn, another setback hit Philippe Da Silva’s team. After a simple screen, Jean-Philippe Dally collapsed holding his calf, unable to put weight on it.

A major setback during preparation

Having arrived in Aisne this summer, the power forward couldn’t finish the game. After receiving medical attention, he reappeared at the end of the game on crutches, to a standing ovation from the Pierre-Ratte crowd. While they’ve ruled out an Achilles tendon rupture, uncertainty remains before Monday’s MRI. Calf tear? Other muscle injury?

Confirmed absence for Boulazac game

Whatever the case, Dally won’t travel for the first Betclic ELITE game at Boulazac. Depending on scenarios, his unavailability could range from several weeks to long-term absence. For a team already searching for stability, losing a key player in the interior rotation further complicates the season start.

What solution for SQBB?

In case of extended absence, the option of a medical replacement will certainly be considered by management. However, quickly finding a French power forward who can integrate and make an impact won’t be easy at this stage of the market. The staff may need to juggle internally while waiting for clarity on the injury’s severity.

Monday’s medical verdict will be decisive. Until then, SQBB and its supporters hold their breath.
