The basketball world witnessed a seismic upset on Friday night as Red Star Belgrade brought Fenerbahçe Istanbul‘s incredible 19-game unbeaten streak to a crashing halt. In front of over 20,300 passionate fans at Belgrade Arena, the Serbian powerhouse delivered when it mattered most, overturning a nine-point halftime deficit to claim a prestigious 79-73 victory over the defending EuroLeague champions.

Codi Miller-McIntyre sparks second-half turnaround

The game’s turning point came through the veteran leadership of Codi Miller-McIntyre. The 31-year-old guard completely transformed Red Star’s fortunes after the break, orchestrating a defensive masterclass that limited Fenerbahçe to just 14 points in the third quarter and 17 in the fourth. Miller-McIntyre flirted with a triple-double, finishing with 10 points, 12 assists, and 8 rebounds, but his impact transcended the box score as he injected rhythm and energy into his team at the crucial moment.

After Red Star’s explosive 10-2 start, Fenerbahçe had seemingly taken control behind Wade Baldwin and Bonzie Colson, building a 42-33 halftime advantage. However, coach Sasa Obradovic‘s halftime adjustments proved decisive. The hosts emerged with renewed defensive intensity, pressuring ball handlers and winning physical battles throughout the court.

When Fenerbahçe attempted a late rally with a 9-0 run, Red Star responded emphatically with a 12-0 surge of their own to seal the victory. Jordan Nwora and Jared Butler provided crucial contributions during this decisive stretch, helping Red Star bounce back from their recent defeat to Bayern Munich and reignite their playoff aspirations.

Milano survives Maccabi thriller behind Nebo’s dominance

Meanwhile in Italy, EA7 Milano secured a vital 96-87 victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv in their final game at PalaLido before returning home. Josh Nebo dominated with a double-double of 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks, earning MVP honors in a performance that kept Milano’s playoff dreams alive.

The game remained competitive throughout, with Milano building a 15-point lead (57-42) spanning the second and third quarters. However, Maccabi refused to surrender, clawing back to within five points late in the third period. The decisive moment came when Shavon Shields delivered back-to-back 3-pointers in the final minutes, extending Milano’s lead to 92-82 and effectively sealing the victory.

These results shake up the EuroLeague standings as the regular season enters its final stretch, with both Red Star and Milano positioning themselves for potential playoff berths while Fenerbahçe’s aura of invincibility finally comes to an end.

Hapoel Tel Aviv suprise road win over FC Barcelona

Hapoel Tel Aviv secured a valuable 80–75 road victory over FC Barcelone, with Dan Oturu and Elijah Bryant leading the way as the Israeli club snapped a three-game losing streak away from home. The win improved Hapoel’s record to 18–11 and lifted the team into fifth place in the EuroLeague standings, with two games in hand as it looks to climb further up the table and avoid the Play-In zone.

Oturu delivered a dominant performance inside with 22 points, while Bryant added 21 to pace the Reds offensively. Antonio Blakeney chipped in eight points, providing additional support in a tightly contested matchup where defensive discipline and key possessions proved decisive.

Barcelona tried to stay within reach throughout the game, led by Kevin Punter’s 17 points. Will Clyburn contributed 15 points and Tomas Satoransky added 11, but the Catalan club struggled to match Hapoel’s efficiency in the decisive moments.

“We started rusty, let’s be honest,” said head coach Dimitris Itoudis after the game. “But we got used to it very well. In two quarters — the second and the last — we gave up just 14 points. The problems for us were turnovers. We turned the ball over too much and missed free throws. But other than that, we had a clear target of what to do.”

After a two-week pause in EuroLeague action, Hapoel returned with a statement performance, demonstrating its ability to compete on the road against one of the competition’s historic powers. The victory reinforces the Reds’ ambitions as they continue their push toward the top spots of the EuroLeague standings.
