Real Madrid blocked, Jordan Loyd likely to join Anadolu Efes Istanbul

EuroLeague - With a transfer to Real Madrid deemed too complex, Jordan Loyd has turned to Anadolu Efes Istanbul for the 2025-2026 season. AS Monaco still needs to agree to release him.

Courted by many clubs after his successful EuroBasket with Poland, Jordan Loyd (1.93 m, 32 years) was close to signing with Real Madrid. But the issue of his rights belonging to Valencia in Liga Endesa prevented negotiations from progressing smoothly, at least quickly enough. Thus, with this deal blocked, another major European club, Anadolu Efes Istanbul, has made progress as revealed by American journalist Marc Stein.

Monaco still needs to set their price to release him

According to our information, Jordan Loyd’s camp and Anadolu Efes Istanbul are close to an agreement, but the Polish international still has one year left on his contract with AS Monaco. With the principality club currently playing in Nicosia against Olympiacos, management will be available to handle this matter Saturday evening or Sunday morning. This is when Jordan Loyd and his representatives hope to find a compromise to be released from his second year of contract and thus be able to sign with Anadolu Efes Istanbul.

At the two-time EuroLeague champions, Jordan Loyd will find a true French colony. Isaia Cordinier and Brice Dessert have joined Rodrigue Beaubois and Vincent Poirier during the offseason. The club, since its European titles, is looking to compete at the highest level again. For this, they’re counting on Jordan Loyd’s experience and talent, following his three seasons at AS Monaco where he had mixed performances, partly due to a back injury and complex hierarchy issues.
