When Yves Thierry Missi stepped onto the court at the Smoothie King Center for his NBA debut on October 23, 2024, few could have imagined the intercontinental journey that had brought him to New Orleans. Born in Belgium but raised in Yaoundé, Cameroon, this 6'11" center perfectly embodies the modern paths taken in global basketball.

After a stint at West Nottingham Academy in Maryland, Missi established himself at Prolific Prep in California, where he won two prestigious titles: The Grind Session World Championship and the John Wall Holiday Invitational. Eager to fast-track his development, the young Cameroonian reclassified his academic year to go directly to Baylor University for the 2023-24 season.
