Player Profile

When Wendell Moore Jr. recorded the fifth triple-double in Duke history with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, he wasn't just making a statistical statement — he was carrying on a family legacy deeply rooted in basketball. The son of Wendell Moore, a former player at Christopher Newport University, the young forward from Charlotte, North Carolina, grew up with a basketball in his hands.

His journey truly began at Cox Mill High School in Concord, where he shattered the school's all-time scoring records. That offensive breakout earned him a spot at Duke University, one of the most storied programs in college basketball. Over three seasons with the Blue Devils, Moore Jr. established himself as a reliable contributor with 68 starts in 88 games, developing the versatility that caught the attention of NBA scouts.

His international résumé already shines: he won a gold medal with the U.S. national team at the 2018 FIBA U-17 World Cup. That experience sharpened his tactical maturity and his ability to perform under pressure.

Selected 26th overall in the 2022 NBA Draft by Dallas, Moore Jr. then embarked on an eventful professional journey. Traded successively to Minnesota and then Detroit, he eventually signed a two-way contract with Charlotte, symbolically coming full circle by returning to his home region.

That instability hasn't dulled his determination. Moore Jr. has all the tools to thrive: exceptional court vision, defensive versatility, and the tactical intelligence he developed during his years at Duke. In Charlotte, he's found a familiar environment in which to build his NBA career on solid foundations.
