Player Profile
At just 14 years old, Vít Krejčí made a decision that would transform his career: leaving his native Czech Republic to join the Zaragoza youth academy in Spain. A bold bet that quickly paid off.
Originally trained at Sokol Písek, the young guard-forward from Strakonice climbed the ranks at a remarkable pace. At 16, he made his professional debut with Zaragoza, becoming the second-youngest debutant in the club's history. This exceptional precocity allowed him to compete in the Liga ACB, Spain's top division, from 2017 to 2021.
However, Krejčí's journey was not without obstacles. In September 2020, a knee injury abruptly ended his season and threatened his NBA ambitions. Despite this setback, the Washington Wizards selected him with the 37th pick in the 2020 Draft, before his rights were traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
His rehabilitation with the Thunder's G League affiliate demonstrated his determination. His NBA debut in October 2021 marked the culmination of a long rebuilding process. Standing 6'8", Krejčí stands out for his versatility as a guard-forward, his basketball IQ, and his exceptional court vision.
After his time with the Thunder and a brief stint with the Iowa Wolves, he found his place with the Atlanta Hawks, who recognized his potential by offering him a four-year, $10 million extension in July 2024. In parallel, he regularly represents the Czech national team, including during the qualifying rounds for the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
At 24, Krejčí embodies the success of a bold international development path, proving that unconventional routes can lead to the highest level.
