Player Profile

When Taylor Hendricks stepped onto Florida's high school courts, he didn't just play — he collected state titles. Three consecutive FHSSA championships between NSU University School and Calvary Christian Academy, alongside future NBA talents Vernon Carey Jr. and Scottie Barnes, shaped the character of this promising power forward born in Fort Lauderdale.

Named Broward County Player of the Year in his final high school season, Hendricks quickly made history by becoming the highest-ranked recruit in University of Central Florida history. His one-season stint at UCF was enough to shake things up: as the program's first ever "one-and-done" player, he paved the way toward uncharted heights.

On June 22, 2023, the Utah Jazz called his name with the 9th pick in the NBA Draft, putting UCF in the spotlight for the very first time. Hendricks became not only the highest draft pick in program history, but also its first lottery selection. His 12-point performance against the Sacramento Kings in December 2023 marked a promising personal best.

But basketball sometimes delivers brutal setbacks. On October 28, 2024, a right fibula fracture combined with an ankle dislocation cut his season short, serving as a reminder of the fragility inherent in elite sport. During his recovery, his twin brother Tyler carried on the family legacy at UCF, keeping the Hendricks name alive on college courts. Far from defining his budding career, this injury is merely a brief pause in the rise of a player who has always turned challenges into opportunities.

  • Set his NBA personal best with 12 points in a Utah Jazz game against Sacramento in December 2023
