When Reece Beekman hit the game-winning buzzer-beater against Syracuse at the ACC Tournament as a freshman, he already revealed that rare ability to shine in clutch moments that would define his career. Born in Milwaukee before moving to Baton Rouge at age 13, this versatile point guard built his character on the courts of Louisiana, leading Scotlandville Magnet High School to a remarkable record of 131 wins and 14 losses along with four consecutive state championships.
His senior season stats — 19.4 points, 9.1 rebounds, 9.9 assists, 2.7 blocks and 2.2 steals — earned him the Louisiana Mr. Basketball title and 21 college offers. His choice of Virginia proved to be a wise one: he became one of the rare players to start all four seasons with the Cavaliers, standing out for his versatility and exceptional defensive intensity.
Despite a remarkable college career, Beekman went undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft. Far from being discouraged, he seized the opportunity of a two-way contract with the Golden State Warriors, playing between the main roster and Santa Cruz in the G League. His professional journey then took him to the Brooklyn Nets in December 2024, before he signed an Exhibit-10 contract with the Denver Nuggets in June 2025.
