Player Profile

When your last name is Nance and you play basketball, the weight of family legacy can be overwhelming. Pete Nance, son of NBA legend Larry Nance and brother of Larry Nance Jr., has nonetheless carved out his own path with remarkable determination.

From his high school days in Ohio, the 6'10" big man showed he would not simply live in the shadow of his illustrious family. By leading Revere High School to its first district title and earning Ohio Division II Player of the Year honors, Pete established himself as a four-star recruit, even becoming the highest-ranked prospect in Northwestern history at the time of his commitment.

His college journey perfectly illustrates his perseverance. After four solid seasons with the Northwestern Wildcats, where he also earned a degree in Radio, Television and Film, Pete took advantage of the pandemic eligibility rule to join the prestigious North Carolina Tar Heels. Despite a nagging back injury, he started all 30 games, averaging 10 points and 6 rebounds per game.

The versatility that defines him — able to score, pass, and defend — opened the doors to the NBA. After honoring family tradition by wearing a Cleveland Cavaliers jersey, Pete continues to sharpen his game between Milwaukee and the affiliated Wisconsin Herd.
