Player Profile
When Orlando Robinson arrived at Cathedral High in Los Angeles, he scored 29 points on his debut and made his intentions clear: this 6'11" center had no plans to go unnoticed. Yet his journey perfectly illustrates the twists and turns of modern basketball, where perseverance matters more than the spotlight.
Born in Las Vegas in July 2000, Robinson first moved between three different high schools before settling at Fresno State in 2019. There, he built a reputation as a versatile player, equally comfortable playing center or power forward. His development was so promising that he declared for the 2021 NBA Draft, only to withdraw and refine his game for one more college season.
The gamble didn't pay off right away: going undrafted in 2022, Robinson began his professional career in the G League with the Sioux Falls Skyforce. But it was precisely that adversity that revealed his character. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he dedicated countless hours to improving his ball-handling and physical conditioning, turning his weaknesses into strengths.
That work ethic eventually opened the doors to the NBA. The Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings, and Toronto Raptors: Robinson accumulated contracts and shuttled back and forth between the major league and the G League. Each stint helped sharpen his versatility, making him the hybrid player that modern franchises seek.
Having become an unrestricted free agent in April 2025 after his time with the Raptors, Robinson embodies a new generation of players who build their careers step by step. His path, far from the glamour, is proof that in the NBA, consistency and adaptability can sometimes be worth more than all the natural talent in the world.
