Liam Robbins, a 7-foot center, experienced that surreal moment after winning the 2024 NBA Cup with the Milwaukee Bucks — a perfect symbol of his unconventional journey to the top of professional basketball.
Robbins' story begins with a spectacular transformation. After a quiet senior year at Assumption High School (9.2 points per game), the Wisconsin native underwent a remarkable physical makeover at Sunrise Christian Academy. Losing more than 30 pounds through relentless training and iron discipline, he sculpted the athletic body that would allow him to compete at the highest level.
His college career illustrates his perseverance: from Drake to Minnesota, then Vanderbilt, Robbins never stopped improving despite the injuries that punctuated his career. This resilience is rooted in his basketball genes — his uncle Ed Conroy coaches at the college level, while his cousin Hunt Conroy also played on collegiate courts.
Going undrafted in 2023, Robbins seized his opportunity with a two-way contract with the Bucks and their G League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd. Despite his recent release making him a free agent entering 2025, this center now holds valuable NBA experience and the recognition of his peers at the highest level.
