Player Profile
When Kevon Harris didn't hear his name called at the 2020 NBA Draft, many would have given up. Not him. The small forward from Ellenwood, Georgia turned that disappointment into fuel for a remarkable rise that took him from G League benches to NBA courts.
Back in his high school days at Martin Luther King Jr. High School, Harris had already shown his determination by leading his team to the state semifinals, averaging 15.8 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. That fighter's mentality followed him to Stephen F. Austin, where he became a starter in his very first college season and surpassed the 1,000 career points milestone in his junior year.
But it was after college that Harris's true character revealed itself. Overlooked by NBA franchises, he embarked on a journeyman path that took him from the Raptors 905 in the G League to Croatia with Zadar, then back to the United States with the Orlando Magic, Lakeland Magic, and College Park Skyhawks. Each stop forged his resilience and sharpened his game.
His perseverance eventually paid off. The Atlanta Hawks offered him his first NBA ten-day contracts, finally allowing him to taste the highest level of the sport. That experience opened a new door: a two-way contract with the Houston Rockets in 2025, a symbol of well-deserved recognition after years of relentless effort.
At 27, Harris perfectly embodies the idea that talent without hard work leads nowhere, but that hard work can unlock unsuspected talent. His unconventional journey makes him a hungry player, ready to seize every opportunity in Houston.
