Player Profile
When Bryan Kevin Porter Jr. steps onto an NBA court, he carries far more than just a jersey on his shoulders. Having lost his father to a tragic shooting at the age of four, KPJ grew up in the tough neighborhoods of South Seattle with his mother Ayanna as his only role model and anchor.
On the courts of Rainier Beach High School — the very place where his father had once shone — Porter Jr. transformed his pain into excellence. His senior year statistics speak for themselves: averages of 27 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists per game, capped by the Washington Mr. Basketball title in 2018. This outstanding performance earned him five-star recruit status and recognition as the top player in his class in the state of Washington.
After a brief season at USC cut short by a quadriceps injury, Porter Jr. made the leap to the NBA. His professional journey reflects his complex personality: flashes of brilliance alternating with personal challenges that took him from Cleveland to Houston, then to the Clippers, before joining Milwaukee in 2023.
A versatile point guard and shooting guard, KPJ possesses the rare ability to create plays for his teammates while remaining a constant offensive threat. His slumps and suspensions have never diminished his determination to honor his father's memory and his mother's sacrifices. At 23, Porter Jr. continues to write his story, aware that every game is an opportunity to prove that adversity forges champions.
