When Johnny Davis scored 37 points and grabbed 14 rebounds against Purdue during his sophomore year, he confirmed what observers already suspected: this son of a former NBA player possesses an extraordinary scoring instinct. Born into a family of accomplished athletes, Davis first shone on the football field in high school, winning the prestigious Dave Krieg Award as Wisconsin's best senior quarterback, before committing fully to basketball.
At La Crosse Central High School, the guard set an all-time record with 2,158 points scored, leading his team to a state championship in his very first year. This remarkable precocity carried over to the University of Wisconsin, where Davis transformed his status from freshman reserve to indispensable leader during his sophomore season.
