When Jett Howard scored 21 points in his college debut at Michigan in 2022, he wasn't just putting up a remarkable freshman performance — he was also confirming that family talent had found a new expression. The son of former NBA All-Star Juwan Howard, Jett grew up in an environment where basketball excellence was the norm, with all three of his older brothers having played NCAA Division I ball.
Despite that heritage, the 6'7" forward carved his own path to the top. After winning a state title in Florida in his very first year of high school, he joined the prestigious IMG Academy, where he led his team to two consecutive national finals. His final high school season was capped by an MVP award at the Iverson Roundball Classic, a performance that definitively established his reputation as an elite shooter.
At Michigan, under his father's guidance, Jett put up impressive numbers, averaging 14.2 points per game on 41% shooting. His versatile offensive game — combining three-point shooting, shot creation, and court vision — won over analysts who saw an NBA-ready profile. His exceptional size for a shooting forward, paired with his refined technique, makes him a rare prospect.
Selected 11th overall by the Orlando Magic in 2023, Howard became one of the youngest players ever drafted by the franchise.
