When Jericho Sims rises toward the basket, it feels as though an entire lineage of athletes is propelling his 6'10" frame. Born into a family where sports run in the blood — his father a former college basketball player turned dentist, his brothers competing in Division I — the Milwaukee big man built his reputation on unwavering determination.
At Cristo Rey Jesuit in Minneapolis, Sims made history by becoming the all-time leading scorer with 2,005 points, capping it off with a senior season averaging 25 points and 10 rebounds per game. He carried that consistency to the University of Texas where, despite ankle injuries and a stress fracture in his back, he kept improving year after year.
The 2021 Big 12 Tournament revealed his full potential: 21 points and 14 rebounds in the championship game win over Oklahoma State, a performance that confirmed his NBA credentials. Selected 58th overall by the Knicks, he worked his way up from a two-way contract to earning a partially guaranteed three-year deal.
His trade to Milwaukee in February 2025 marked a turning point, even though thumb surgery cut his season short. Known for his athleticism, rebounding ability, and shot-blocking, Sims even took his shot at the 2023 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, stepping in as a last-minute replacement for Shaedon Sharpe.
