Player Profile

Who could have predicted that a high school player averaging two points per game would one day become a professional NBA point guard? Jason Preston's story defies all the odds of modern basketball.

Born in Orlando, Florida, Preston had initially planned to study journalism in college, far from professional courts. But a four-inch growth spurt after high school changed everything. Seizing this second chance, he joined the Believe Prep Academy, where his performances finally attracted the attention of college recruiters.

At Ohio University, the 6'3" point guard transformed his potential into reality. His perseverance culminated in a memorable 31-point performance against Illinois, thrusting this mid-major player into the national spotlight. That night perfectly symbolized his journey: refusing to accept the limits imposed by others.

Selected 33rd overall in the 2021 NBA Draft by Orlando and immediately traded to the Los Angeles Clippers, Preston discovered that the road to the top was still filled with obstacles. Foot surgery caused him to miss his entire rookie season, once again testing his legendary resilience.

His NBA debut in October 2022 marked the culmination of an extraordinary journey, from videos he posted on Twitter to attract college attention to playing on professional courts. Having gone through the Utah Jazz and the Salt Lake City Stars in the G League, Preston embodies the power of determination in the face of adversity.

Now a free agent, this point guard continues to inspire with his unwavering belief in his own abilities, proving that even the most unlikely dreams can become reality.
