Player Profile

At 7'5", Jamarion Sharp dominates the court like few players before him, yet his path to the top of professional basketball was anything but straightforward. Born on August 26, 2001, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, this towering center initially had no passion for basketball, despite an exceptional genetic heritage — a 6'9" father and a 6'5" mother.

It was his high school coach who convinced him to give the sport a chance, at the very moment Sharp was experiencing remarkable growth spurts. Standing 6'6" as a freshman, he surpassed 7'0" by his senior year, radically transforming his athletic outlook. At Hopkinsville High School, he earned all-district honors and represented the Kentucky team in the prestigious Kentucky-Indiana All-Star Game in 2019.

His academic results prevented him from enrolling directly at Western Kentucky, his dream school. Rather than giving up, Sharp took the junior college route, joining John A. Logan College for two years, where he became the top-ranked JUCO prospect in the country. That determination ultimately opened the doors to Western Kentucky, then Ole Miss, before he made the leap to professional basketball.

Now on an Exhibit 10 contract with the Dallas Mavericks and playing for the Texas Legends in the G League, Sharp is the perfect embodiment of perseverance rewarded. His story is a reminder that in basketball, size alone is not enough — it is the combination of natural talent, hard work, and seized opportunities that shapes extraordinary destinies.

  • Appeared in 31 games for Ole Miss in 2023-24, averaging 3.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game
  • In his first professional G League season with the Texas Legends (2024-25), posting averages of 6.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.2 blocks per game
