Player Profile
When Jalen Crutcher releases a three-pointer in the final seconds, his opponents know they have good reason to worry. This Memphis-born point guard has built his reputation on his ability to shine in crucial moments, a quality that has stayed with him from his high school years all the way to the professional courts.
After standing out at Ridgeway High School, Crutcher had an eventful college career. Originally committed to Chattanooga, a coaching change led him to join the Dayton Flyers — a decision that proved well worth it. It was there that he forged his legend as a "clutch player," highlighted by a game-tying three-pointer against Kansas at the prestigious 2019 Maui Invitational, followed by a game-winning shot against Saint Louis that electrified the crowd.
His path to the NBA is a perfect illustration of his tenacity. After declaring for the 2020 draft before returning to Dayton for his final college season, Crutcher went undrafted in 2021. But rather than give up, he seized his opportunity during the Summer League with Milwaukee, then went on to play stints in the G League with the Greensboro Swarm and Birmingham Squadron.
His perseverance finally paid off in 2024 when he made his NBA debut with the New Orleans Pelicans. Despite going back and forth between the big league and the G League, Crutcher continues to refine his game, driven by the resilience that has always defined him. At 25 years old, this ice-veined point guard is far from done writing his story.
