Player Profile
When Erik Stevenson signed his ten-day contract with the Washington Wizards in 2025, he reached a milestone that few players who attended four different universities manage to achieve. This 6'4" guard embodies perseverance through an unusually winding college journey, moving from the Wichita State Shockers to the Washington Huskies, then to the South Carolina Gamecocks, before finishing his NCAA career with the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Basketball runs in the Stevenson family. The son of Craig, a former college player at the University of Puget Sound who went on to play professionally in Europe and Australia, Erik grew up in an environment where athletic excellence is a family tradition. That heritage showed early at Timberline High School, where he put up eye-popping numbers in his senior year — averaging 24.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game — leading his team to its best state tournament performance since 1981.
His "super-senior" season at West Virginia revealed his basketball maturity: 15.4 points per game with impressive shooting splits of 43% from the field, 37.9% from three, and 79.6% from the free-throw line. Those numbers showcased a reliable and versatile shooter, qualities that earned him a spot in the G League with the Capital City Go-Go after going undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft.
A brief stint in France with Cholet in 2024 added international experience before his return to North America. While he has yet to appear in an NBA regular-season game, his contract with Washington confirms that his winding path has forged him for the challenges ahead.
