Player Profile

When Damion Baugh scored 16 points on his NBA debut with the Charlotte Hornets on February 12, 2025, few could have imagined the winding road that had brought him to that moment. The Nashville native had shown all the signs of success back in high school: ranked 86th nationally by Rivals.com, averaging 23.5 points and 10 rebounds at Tennessee Prep Academy, he seemed destined for a bright future.

But professional basketball doesn't always follow the script. His first two seasons at Memphis (2019-2021) were disappointing, with modest numbers that pushed him to seek a fresh start. The transfer to TCU proved to be a turning point: Baugh found his footing there, developing into a versatile guard capable of scoring in double figures while also running the offense. His final college season (12.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.8 assists) peaked with a run to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The next challenge was brutal: going undrafted in 2023, Baugh bounced through a series of short-term deals with the Lakers, the South Bay Lakers in the G League, the Knicks, and the Westchester Knicks. A six-game NCAA suspension for hiring an agent had already tested his resilience; this professional wilderness period hardened him further.

His brief stint with the Hornets in 2025, on a two-way contract, perfectly captures his determination. His 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists on his NBA debut are not a culmination but a promise. At 24 years old, this 6'4" guard now knows that every opportunity counts in an unforgiving league.
