Player Profile

Few players can claim to have shared every step of their basketball journey with their twin brother, but Cody Martin is one of those rare exceptions. Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, this forward carved his path to the NBA alongside his brother Caleb, forming an inseparable duo since their high school days.

After briefly trying American football during his freshman year of high school, Martin fully committed to basketball, first at Davie County High School and then at the prestigious Oak Hill Academy. This elite training opened the doors to North Carolina State University, before a transfer to the University of Nevada revealed his true potential under head coach Eric Musselman.

It was at Nevada that Martin truly blossomed, considerably improving his game. Confident enough to declare himself eligible for the NBA Draft after his junior year, he nonetheless made the mature choice to return and finish his senior season to sharpen his skills. That patience paid off when the Charlotte Hornets selected him 36th overall in the 2019 NBA Draft.

His NBA debut in October 2019 marked the culmination of a methodical and thoughtful journey. After several seasons in Charlotte, his trade to the Phoenix Suns in February 2025, followed by his release a few months later, illustrates the unforgiving reality of the league. But for Martin, accustomed to navigating transitions alongside his twin brother, each new chapter represents an opportunity to demonstrate his resilience and determination to pursue his professional dream.
