Player Profile

When Bryce McGowens scored 65 points in a high school game, he was simply confirming what his genetics had already suggested. Born into a family where basketball runs in the blood, the young shooting guard from South Carolina grew up guided by his parents Bobby and Pam, both former college players who went on to become high school coaches.

His offensive explosion quickly became his trademark: a streak of eight consecutive games with over 30 points catapulted McGowens to five-star prospect status, a first in Nebraska program history. His college choice was no coincidence: joining the Cornhuskers allowed him to reunite with his older brother Trey, creating a rare family duo at the Division I level.

Despite a single season at Nebraska where he confirmed his offensive potential, McGowens made the bold decision to enter the NBA Draft. His professional journey proved more winding: after stints with Charlotte and their G League affiliate, he found a new opportunity in Portland through a two-way contract for the 2024-25 season.

The rib injury that prematurely ended his 2025 G League campaign serves as a reminder of how fragile the professional path can be. But for this 6'6" guard developed on the Nike EYBL circuit with Team Thad, every obstacle represents a step toward maturity. At 22 years old, McGowens still has both the time and the talent to turn his offensive potential into lasting success.
