Player Profile
When Alondes Williams recorded the second triple-double in Wake Forest history, few could have imagined that this point guard from Milwaukee would take one of the most winding roads to the NBA. Yet that performance perfectly captures the versatility that has defined his game from the very beginning.
His rise began far from the spotlight, at Triton College, where he won the NJCAA Division II national title in 2018 and earned his conference's Player of the Year award. That first taste of success opened the door to Oklahoma, but it was at Wake Forest that he truly showed his potential. Able to play both backcourt positions, Williams blends basketball IQ with technical versatility to become one of the most respected point guards in college basketball.
A 36-point outing confirmed his offensive ability, but it was his capacity to impact every aspect of the game that caught recruiters' attention. Despite his remarkable development, the 2022 NBA Draft passed him by. Undeterred, he accepted a two-way contract with Brooklyn — the first step in a professional journey that would take him from the Long Island Nets to the Detroit Pistons, with stops in Miami and with the Motor City Cruise along the way.
That nomadic path has done nothing to diminish his determination or his adaptability. Each stint has enriched his experience, strengthened his mindset, and sharpened his understanding of the professional game. Williams embodies a generation of players who refuse to give up on their NBA dreams despite the obstacles, turning every detour into a learning opportunity. His perseverance and high basketball IQ are his greatest assets as he works to establish himself at the highest level.
