Player Profile
When Alex Reese went undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft, many would have given up on their dreams of a professional basketball career. Not him. The 6'9" big man traded his sneakers for a bartender's apron and started moving furniture, but the fire inside him never went out.
The son of Brian and Rebakah Reese, Alex grew up in Pelham, Alabama, in a family where sports run in the blood — his uncle Quinton was even drafted by the Detroit Lions in 2000. After starring at Pelham High School, he went on to the University of Alabama, where he played 124 games over four seasons, including 36 as a starter.
It was after this forced time away from the court that Alex showed his true strength of character. Determined to revive his career, he accepted the opportunity to play in Luxembourg — the first step in a comeback journey that would eventually lead him to the Philadelphia 76ers. That European experience helped him regain confidence and rhythm, proving that his time at the University of Alabama was only a stepping stone.
Now playing on a two-way contract between the Sixers and their G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats, Alex is a perfect embodiment of the modern basketball player's perseverance. His unlikely journey — from bartender to NBA player — speaks to a rare level of determination in a world where second chances are hard to come by.

- Posted a double-double every season in high school, peaking at 25.4 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game as a junior
- Led Pelham High School to the Sweet 16 (junior year) and then the Elite Eight (senior year)
- Dominated in Luxembourg with Amicale Steesel: 23.7 points, 12.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.0 steal, and 1.5 blocks over 27 games
