The Detroit Pistons got their revenge in the best possible way. Three days after suffering a humiliating home defeat against Brooklyn despite a 23-point lead, the Eastern Conference leaders inflicted a memorable beating on the Nets (138-100) at the Barclays Center on Tuesday night.
This victory ended Detroit’s worst streak of the season, which had seen four consecutive losses. The Cade Cunningham – Jalen Duren duo was dazzling, combining for 47 points with a remarkable efficiency of 17 made shots on 20 attempts.
Cunningham and Duren in demonstration mode
Cade Cunningham, absent during Saturday’s loss, reminded everyone why he is indispensable to this Pistons team. The All-Star guard compiled 21 points and 15 assists with an excellent 8/10 shooting, including 4/5 from 3-point range. His partnership with Jalen Duren wreaked havoc from the opening minutes.
Detroit’s center dominated the paint with 26 points on 9/10 shooting, adding 4 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals. The two combined for 21 points in the first quarter alone, setting the tone for a perfect evening for the Pistons.

Duncan Robinson (15 points) and Marcus Sasser (14 points on 4/5 from 3-point range) contributed offensively, allowing Detroit to shoot 56% from the field and 50% from 3-point range (16/32). The Pistons took control from the first quarter (38-27) before definitively overwhelming Brooklyn in the second period (35-13) to lead 73-40 at halftime.
Brooklyn powerless against Detroit’s defense
On the Nets’ side, only Michael Porter Jr. (19 points) and Jalen Wilson (14 points) stayed afloat in this collective disaster. Brooklyn’s team, which had won two consecutive games, never found a solution against the Pistons’ renewed defensive intensity.
With the gap quickly climbing to over 40 points, both teams were able to rotate their rosters late in the game. Ron Holland II and Daniss Jenkins took advantage of the garbage time to make an impression for Detroit, while youngsters Ben Saraf and Chaney Johnson got valuable playing time for Brooklyn.
This victory allows the Pistons to consolidate their first place in the East and regain confidence before hosting Philadelphia on Thursday. For the Nets (17-48), the rebuilding continues with this setback that keeps them in the race for the best draft pick.
