The former NBA point guard will not face criminal prosecution in the assault case involving his 15-year-old sister that began in November 2025. The Fort Bend County grand jury in Texas decided not to pursue charges against the 36-year-old player.

No bill ends months-long legal proceedings

The accusations against Patrick Beverley were particularly serious. The former Lakers and Bulls player was suspected of choking and hitting his teenage sister. Law enforcement was alerted by the alleged victim’s boyfriend, and officers observed marks on the young girl’s neck.

Beverley had been arrested for aggravated assault, a crime carrying severe penalties. However, the grand jury determined the evidence was insufficient to justify prosecution, definitively ending the proceedings.

Patrick Beverley’s attorneys, Rusty Hardin and Letitia Quinones-Hollins, expressed their satisfaction with the decision. « That’s what happened today, when a grand jury sitting in Fort Bend County issued a no bill for Patrick, effectively ending the case, » they stated.

Patrick Beverley relieved and grateful

In a statement released through his legal representatives, Patrick Beverley sought to clarify his position. « Patrick wants everyone to know that he would never do anything to harm his sister and he is very grateful that the grand jury recognized that with their no bill. He thanks everyone who prayed for him and supported him during this time. »

The former NBA player, who had denied the accusations from the start on social media, now hopes to move forward. « He is pleased that the process was allowed to work as it did and his hope is that with these accusations behind him now, his name and reputation are restored, » his attorneys stated.
