The Oklahoma City Thunder officially clinched the top seed in the Western Conference and the best overall record in the NBA after their 128-110 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night. This performance marks the third consecutive season the team has finished atop the West, confirming their dominance over the league.

Chet Holmgren led the offense with 30 points and 14 rebounds, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 20 points and 11 assists. Jalen Williams contributed 18 points for the reigning NBA champions (64-16), who will enjoy home-court advantage throughout the playoffs as they defend their title.

Historic Dominance Over Two Seasons

Oklahoma City has won seven consecutive games and 19 of their last 20 contests since February 25, fending off San Antonio (61-19), who have still posted an impressive 18-2 record since February. This exceptional consistency places the Thunder in the history books of the NBA.

It is the first time in franchise history that the Thunder have won at least 60 games in consecutive seasons. With 68 wins last season and 64 this year, the team totals 132 wins over two seasons, the fourth-best total in NBA history. Only the Bulls of 1995-1996 and 1996-1997 hold the record with 141 wins.

The Thunder also join the Boston Celtics as the only teams to have achieved this feat since the Golden State Warriors of 2015-2017. The team started the 2025-2026 season with eight consecutive wins, then went on a 16-game winning streak through mid-December.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the reigning MVP, continues to impress by averaging at least 30 points per game for the fourth consecutive season. He is currently averaging 31.1 points over 68 games, having scored at least 20 points in 141 consecutive games, a new record. The Thunder will wrap up their regular season on Friday against Denver and on Sunday against Phoenix, before beginning the playoffs against one of the winners of the Western Conference play-in tournament.
