Olympiacos easily dominated AEK Athens 81-67 at the Nea Alikarnassos Sports Palace to secure their qualification to the Greek Cup semifinals. Giorgos Bartzokas’ team justified their favorite status by taking advantage of the absences of Lukas Lekavicius, Dimitrios Katsivelis and Dimitris Flionis on the opposing side.
Sasha Vezenkov opened the scoring with a 3-pointer and set the tone for a perfectly controlled first period. Despite a promising start by AEK led by Bartley (6-8), Olympiacos quickly took command by inflicting a four-minute scoring drought on their opponent to lead 17-8. The Bulgarian finished the first quarter with 10 points and 4 rebounds, allowing his team to build an 11-point lead (23-12). He particularly benefited from the excellent service of Frank Ntilikina and Evan Fournier, who scored little (0 points on 0/6 and 9 points on 2/6 respectively) but provided 7 and 4 assists in 22 minutes each. Former Parisian Tyson Ward delivered another complete game (8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in 28 minutes).

The game swung hard in the second quarter when Alec Peters caught fire. He poured in 10 points in under eight minutes, pushing Olympiacos’ lead past the 20-point mark. Tyson Walkup filled in the gaps — six points, five rebounds and three assists before halftime — while Nikola Milutinov and Tyrique Jones controlled the paint on both ends. By the break, it was 46–24 and felt lopsided.
The third quarter opened with more of the same. Walkup drilled a three to stretch the margin to 24, reinforcing the gap between the teams. But the tone shifted when Tyrique Jones went down with a right knee injury, casting a shadow over the night. He’s set to undergo an MRI on Wednesday to assess the damage. AEK capitalized on the disruption, closing the third on a 9–0 run to trim the deficit to 63–49 and inject a bit of tension.
In the fourth, Olympiacos steadied. The defensive edge returned, the spacing improved, and the lead ballooned back beyond 20. Giorgos Bartzokas was even able to rotate in Giannoulis Larentzakis after a challenging few days. Vezenkov finished with 16 points and nine boards, Peters added 14 and nine of his own, and Milutinov chipped in 10 points and five assists to close out a win that was comfortable — if not entirely carefree.
