Nicolas Lang gives news about Limoges CSP’s preseason: « We hope to keep building momentum »

Betclic ELITE - Nicolas Lang shares his thoughts on Limoges CSP's 2025-2026 season preparation, which has taken place so far without new coach Dario Gjergja and several squad members who are either injured or participating in the Euros.

Nicolas Lang (1.96m, 35 years old) is about to start his seventh season at Limoges CSP. Once again, the Alsatian player will work with a new coach and a largely revamped roster. The preseason is important, though he puts things in perspective in an interview with Populaire du Centre, hoping first « that everyone gets in shape and we avoid injuries. »

Building the team’s chemistry isn’t ideal during this period. Center Nikola Jovanovic is injured, while Mamadou Guisse just finished EuroBasket with Belgium and Leon Stergar is still competing there. Most importantly, new coach Dario Gjergja hasn’t been able to take charge of his group yet, as he was also at the Euros with Belgium. But this doesn’t seem to worry Nicolas Lang, who has seen it all before.

« I would call it a handicap if he wasn’t here two days before the season starts, but we still have three weeks of preparation. It would be more problematic if we only had two weeks left, and even then, it wouldn’t be the end of the world. He watches our training sessions and gives his instructions. He communicates exactly what he wants to the staff. »

« Eliminating certain negative aspects »

Eliminated after the group stage, the former Ostend coach can now join Limousin. He’ll find a team that won against Élan béarnais in a preparation game before being heavily defeated by Le Mans (-30). Two results that hold little importance for the French international. « It doesn’t mean much. I would say the same if we had won by 30, » he adds, happy to be part of a « studious » group.

This Sunday, Nicolas Lang expects to see improvements against Cholet Basket at Les Sables-d’Olonne. « We also need to try to eliminate certain negative aspects like the lack of communication on the court that we saw against Le Mans. We need to try to get on the same wavelength, » he continues, with the primary goal of avoiding any new injuries.
