Moses Moody Suffers Serious Knee Injury in Warriors Victory at Dallas

The Golden State Warriors overtime victory at Dallas (137-131) will be remembered for the devastating injury to Moses Moody. The 23-year-old wing collapsed to the floor attempting a breakaway dunk, his left kneecap completely giving way on the landing. The footage is shocking and left both teams stunned in the final seconds of the game.
An injury that comes at the worst time
Moody had just intercepted a pass from Cooper Flagg with 1 minute 13 seconds remaining in overtime. Alone heading to the basket for what should have been a clinching dunk, the Warriors wing never got to attempt the shot. His left knee gave out on the landing, causing him to fall hard under the basket.
« We don’t know what it is, but it looked really serious, » said head coach Steve Kerr after the game. The Warriors coach had his head in his hands when the injury occurred, while the Dallas arena fell silent.
This injury comes at the worst possible time for Moody, who was playing his first game after missing the previous 10 contests due to a right wrist sprain. He had been excellent against the Mavericks with 23 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals, confirming his strong season averaging 11.9 points.
Moses Moody just suffered what could be a patellar dislocation of left knee on a non contact injury while laying it up. It’s a little gruesome, so watch with caution. pic.twitter.com/BenNpt1eO8

Warriors hit by another setback
This injury represents another blow for Golden State, already without Stephen Curry for 22 games due to persistent right knee issues. The team had also lost veteran wing Jimmy Butler, who suffered a torn ACL.
Moody, a 2021 first-round pick (14th overall), was in his fifth NBA season and had signed a three-year, $39 million contract extension before this season. Starting in 49 of 60 games played this season, he had become an important part of the Warriors rotation.
Despite this victory ending a three-game losing streak, Golden State (34-38) remains in difficulty at 10th place in the Western Conference. For Dallas, this 12th consecutive home loss represents the longest streak at American Airlines Center since it opened 25 years ago.
