AS Monaco delivered a statement performance in Istanbul, proving their championship character when it mattered most. Trailing 83-73 with six and a half minutes remaining, the Roca Team orchestrated one of the most spectacular comebacks of the EuroLeague season to defeat Anadolu Efes 93-98.

Blossomgame’s heroic takeover changes everything

After Sehmus Hazer had torched Monaco for a career-high 26 points and seemingly put the game away, the visitors refused to surrender. Alpha Diallo sparked the comeback with 7 points in just 79 seconds, breathing life back into what appeared to be a lost cause.

But it was Jaron Blossomgame who truly stole the show. Following a crucial 3-pointer from Juhann Begarin that cut the deficit to 85-81, Blossomgame took complete control. The American forward exploded for 10 consecutive points in an incredible 113-second span, including a 3-pointer and an and-one play that gave Monaco their first lead since the second quarter.

« I didn’t play that well until the last two minutes, » Blossomgame modestly stated after finishing with 17 points on 5/6 shooting. « But my teammates kept believing in me, encouraging me and finding me in my spots. »

Team chemistry drives Monaco’s resilience

Playing with just nine professionals and missing key stars Mike James and Nikola Mirotic, Monaco’s depth and character shone through. Matthew Strazel contributed 17 points and 6 assists, keeping the team within striking distance throughout the contest, while Begarin delivered a career-high 12 EuroLeague points.

The new coaching duo of Sergiy Gladyr and Manuchar Markoishvili made the decisive tactical adjustment, employing a small-ball lineup in crunch time that completely disrupted Efes’ rhythm. Markoishvili now boasts a perfect 2-0 record since taking over coaching duties.

« After the two weeks we just lived through, nobody can question our character anymore, » Blossomgame declared on EuroLeague TV. « It’s a difficult situation for everyone, but it’s when things get tough that you see people’s character. We showed who we really are and we’re not done showing it. »

The victory keeps Monaco in seventh place and firmly in playoff contention, moving them further away from the dangerous 11th position that would mean elimination. With such resilience and team chemistry, the Roca Team continues to dream of a top-six finish and direct qualification to the quarterfinals.

« We’re a very tight group, » Blossomgame emphasized. « I think we have something really special. Many of my teammates tell us that our team is unique, because they’ve played on many teams in Europe and few teams have such chemistry off the court. We genuinely appreciate each other, and it shows on the court. »
