Maxime Raynaud (7’1″, 22 years old) didn’t waste time making his presence felt. In his first game wearing Sacramento Kings colors at the Las Vegas Summer League, the French big man shined against the Orlando Magic, in a game also featuring his compatriot Noah Penda. With an impressive start to the game, Raynaud immediately made a strong impression on his coaches and executives.
It only took a few minutes for Maxime Raynaud to impress observers and Kings fans. In just six minutes, the former Stanford center had already compiled 11 points on 100% shooting, 2 rebounds and 1 steal. A red-hot first quarter, showcasing his offensive efficiency and activity on the court.

He finished with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists in 26 minutes, shooting 6/11 from the field including 2/5 from three-point range. His impact went well beyond the stat line: constant communication, defensive work, smart decision-making. Summer League coach Dipesh Mistry didn’t hide his admiration: « Max gives so much effort, but he also plays so intelligently… It’s like his potential is limitless. »
Raynaud also distinguished himself with his vocal leadership on the court: « Even if you just tell a guy ‘you’re alone,’ that’s already important. This kind of communication gives you confidence on defense, » he explained after the game.
This team-first mindset contributed to a decisive 14-0 run in the first half, sparked by his activity in the paint and his playmaking ability. Despite a quieter second period, Raynaud continued to contribute through his commitment and Sacramento eventually won 84-81 against Noah Penda’s Magic (8 points on 4/9 shooting, including 0/3 from three, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 turnovers in 26 minutes).

Speaking on ESPN, Kings GM Scott Perry praised the Frenchman: « He’s a huge worker. He’s determined. He really loves this sport and has great chances to improve because he works hard. » Perry also highlighted his defensive qualities, particularly his ability to switch onto perimeter players.
Already signed before the Summer League even began, Raynaud has started his California mission in the best possible way. Behind Domantas Sabonis, he could quickly earn playing time if he continues to impress with his work ethic and efficiency.
