Nolan Traore (6’3″, 19 years old) had a successful Summer League debut with the Brooklyn Nets. Facing the Oklahoma City Thunder from Saturday night to Sunday, the young French point guard confirmed the hopes placed in him with a masterful game, despite his team’s loss against Nikola Topic’s Thunder.

A promising debut for Nolan Traore

In a sometimes disorganized team, Nolan Traore showed his skills from his first minutes on the Cox Pavilion court. Scoring 13 points on 3/5 shooting, 3 rebounds and 3 assists in 23 minutes, he demonstrated his quickness, game reading ability, and mental toughness by converting all 6 of his free throw attempts.

Like Joan Beringer or Maxime Raynaud, who also stood out in Summer League, the point guard from Pole France didn’t seem intimidated by the NBA environment. His coach, present at the venue, appreciated that the professional setting wasn’t new to him, unlike other rookies straight out of NCAA.

However, his strong performance wasn’t enough for Brooklyn to win against Oklahoma City, losing 90-81. Several of the former Picardy player’s teammates struggled to catch his passes. One of them even got hit in the face with the ball.

Nolan Traore will have another opportunity this Monday at 2 AM (French time) against the Washington Wizards… and a certain Alexandre Sarr.
